HOW IT WORKS
Turn a blank canvas, a starter design, or reference photos into an editable 3D concept. Refine the details, explore every angle, and show how it comes together.

THE BUILDING STUDIO
Start simple. Get the overall shape and floors right, then work on windows, materials, and façade details.
Open Project files → Samples and choose Villa Riviera, Shoreline Gateway or International Tower. Select Build.
A useful first stop to try editing and construction playback.
Use 2D plan to draw walls and floor slabs. Add levels, columns, stairs, and a roof. Select a wall before adding its doors or windows.
On mobile, tap Build for drawing tools above the canvas and building elements above the footer. Swipe either row sideways for more tools. Manage floors in Levels.
Give reference photos and our downloadable kit to your preferred AI model. Bring its design JSON back here to validate, render, and edit.
Follow the photo workflowREFERENCE → EDITABLE DESIGN
The AI kit explains the file format to your AI model. Building3D reads that design and turns it into geometry you can edit.
Open the photo-to-design kitAttach your photos in your AI chat. This guide does not upload photos or generate a design for you.
Include the front, sides, rear, and roof when available. Label each view and add known measurements, floor counts, or a dimensioned sketch. One photo leaves more to estimate.
Download the kit, add your project details, and attach it with your images to your preferred AI chat. Ask for a complete .design.json file that follows the kit, with assumptions stated separately.
In Building, choose Project files → Open project / design JSON. Choose Build.
Check the silhouette, height, floor spacing, window pattern, and colors against your references. Edit in the app or export the design JSON and ask your AI for specific corrections.
MAKE IT YOURS
Move between a plan and an orbitable model as you develop the concept.
Set your rectangular site, dimensions, setbacks, and orientation. Add or duplicate levels and adjust their floor-to-floor heights. Dimensions use metres.
Select a part to change its size, position, and available materials. Move elements in 2D or 3D; use wall and slab handles to resize (hold Shift when dragging with a mouse). Undo and redo let you revisit changes.
Use Orbit view to rotate without moving parts. Drag to orbit, pinch or scroll to zoom, and use two fingers or right-drag to pan in 3D. Use Fit building to recenter.
Switch between 2D and 3D, show all levels or the selected level, and control roof and wall visibility. The sun/moon icon changes the canvas between dark and light.
YOUR MOBILE TOOLBAR
SHOW HOW IT COMES TOGETHER
In 3D, press the play icon at the top left of the canvas. The illustrative sequence progresses through groundworks, foundations, structure, and façade installation, with construction equipment and temporary scaffolding.
Your canvas keeps its size and starting camera framing. You can still move around the building while it is being built.
An illustrative sequence, not an engineered construction method or project schedule. Missing structure may be shown with illustrative columns, circulation cores and partitions; accurate interiors require plans or model data. Low-rise projects use ground equipment instead of a tower crane.
KEEP YOUR WORK MOVING
Choose Download project JSON to keep a Building project file. Reopen it with Open project / design JSON. Use Export design JSON when passing a design to an AI model or compatible tool.
Open My Projects in your studio’s project menu (in Site & Urban, above Samples), sign in, name your workspace, and choose Save to My Projects. Edits remain an unsaved preview until you click Save. In Site & Urban, use the Save button in the bottom bar. New imported locations also remain drafts until saved. Wait for a successful save before closing or switching devices.
Export a 3D image, a 2D plan SVG, or an areas CSV. On mobile, find these under Project → Areas & exports; select 2D or 3D first for the image you want.
BEYOND THE BUILDING
Choose a studio from the top navigation, or the hamburger menu on mobile. Each studio has its own editable content; changing studios keeps your work during the current visit.
Choose a bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, or office. Set its dimensions, arrange furniture, and place doors and windows. Explore a top view or 3D view before saving an image.
Place and stack container modules, add openings and furnishings, and inspect interiors. Choose a studio, desert, coast, forest mountain, or dry mountain setting from the scenery dropdown.
Arrange shapes and text, connect them with arrows, and format your diagram. Use Preview to present a workflow or decision path, and export an SVG for use elsewhere.
A LITTLE HELP
Use Copy validation errors and send those messages plus the complete JSON back to your AI. Ask it to return one complete, corrected file. If you edit JSON in the review box, include everything from the opening { to the closing }, without Markdown fences or explanatory text. A rejected import does not replace your current building.
Arrange the camera in Interior Design or Containers, then choose Render realista. The image refines progressively with bounced light and reflections. Preview is faster; High and Ultra produce larger images. Download the PNG when ready, or close the render to keep editing. This uses your device’s graphics hardware; it is a still-image render, separate from the real-time timelapse.
Every registered account includes 5 private projects for free. The optional Plus plan provides 25 projects total for $9.99 USD/month through PayPal; checkout availability appears in My Projects. Geographic imports allow a 0.25 mile radius on Free and 0.5 miles on Plus, with up to 2,000 mapped features per import. Dense areas may be incomplete. Cancel anytime. After your paid period ends, your limit returns to 5, and all saved projects remain accessible and editable. Each project can hold up to 4 MB. JSON downloads remain available without a subscription.
Yes. Open Coastal Courtyard Home, drag furnishings, change containers and finishes, or add and remove pieces. Refreshing restores the original sample in that tab. To keep your changes, save a separate project in your account or export a layout before refreshing.
The renderer uses the geometry and materials in the JSON. It cannot recover details missing from that file. More views and real measurements help; refine the overall proportions first, then floor spacing, façade patterns, windows, balconies, and roof details. Photo-based designs remain estimates within the app’s supported shapes.
Yes. Choose Download JSON, keep the file, then use Open JSON in the same section. On mobile these actions are in Project; on desktop use Project files (or Projects & view in Flowchart). No account is needed. Interior files include all six rooms and their furniture, sizes, positions, doors and windows. Container files include furniture, openings, stair connections, finishes and scenery; Flowchart files preserve shapes and connections. These are editable designs, unlike PNG images or videos. Opening a valid file replaces that section’s design; Undo restores the previous design. Download again after editing to keep your latest changes.
A compatible project or design JSON preserves the supported building geometry and properties so you can reopen and edit it. Camera angle, lighting, screen size, and later renderer updates can change the appearance of a view; save a 3D image if you also want to keep a specific presentation.
Select the wall they should belong to, then add a window or door. Adjust its size and position in the element properties. Openings must fit inside their wall and cannot overlap other openings on that wall.
No. The studios currently maintain separate designs within your workspace. Use each for its own concept; they do not automatically combine into one coordinated building model.
Building3D is a concept-design and visualization tool. Its models, area summaries, and construction animations do not replace measured surveys, professional engineering, code checks, or approved construction documents.
Yes. The design API supports permission-controlled access to building designs. Signed-in users can create scoped, expiring API keys for tools they choose. See the API & JSON guide for setup and supported operations.
